Oct. 13-14 was the TBF State on Old Hickory and it was tough. The lake has been fished heavily in October. We had the FLW Super tournament, Stratos World Championships and numerous other small local tournaments. I thought I had a fairly good practice and plan put together but as fishing is it went south quickly. I managed a 78th out of 256 fishermen/women. Not a bad number but for me it was a major disapointment. I had higher expectations for myself. Even tough I knew it would be tough I had a pattern of 3 fish a day with a nice 4lb kicker. I was averaging 8lbs in practice with no problems and I was not even fish hard. I drew boat #4 on race day. I had my spots all to myself both days and could not cash in. I had been fishing some ledges, bluffs and main lake points that had docks and deep water. I caught 20+ fish on Friday with only 1 measuring fish. I had 4 fish that were so close I actually stuck them in the live well to see if they would relax and measure. No such luck. Saturday was much the same but I did not catch nearly the amount of fish. After about 4hrs on Saturday on the main lake I blew my plan and headed up the creeks to see if I could find something. Again nothing panned out. I threw everything, cranks, jigs, spinner baits, finesse, and carolina rigs. I ended up with 1 fish for 2.77 lbs caught on a Bitsy Bug. I need to go lick my wounds and pick my head back up and start planning on ESPN Bassmaster Regionals Nov. 2-4th. I am pumped up about heading down to Lake Eufaula in Alabama. I have always wanted to fish that lake. I am rooming with Bassmaster Southern Tour Pro John Wells from Nashville, TN. Hopefully I can pick up a few pointers from him and make top 8 or even better a win.

Jason, Glad to hear from you. Sorry about your not fishing Saturday but probably did not miss much. I had a tougher Saturday then Friday. I caught fish but just dinks with the one keeper fish. I am trying to put that tournament behind me. I was on fish the weekend before to win that tournament and they moved or I just flat could not catch'em. I am heading to Eufaula on the 29th. I hope to get into some of those big magnum spots on a drop shot. I will be there for a week. I will let everyone know how it goes.
