Saturday Jan. 27 the wife and I decided to head to Percy Priest to fish for a few hours. I thought the bite might be one due to a major cold front approaching. We started fishing around 10:30 a.m. and fished until 2:00 p.m. when she started getting cold.

Water Temp: 46-48 degrees
Clear to overcast toward the end of the day
Water color clear to 4ft or so
50 degree temp with 10mph wind
We started out up lake near Spring creek and fished a few bluff walls with no luck. We then started out at the mouth of Fall creek and fished our way back into it. I started out on rock and only have a few bites. I found some wood in 5ft of water and started fishing it and found some fish. My 1st fish was 3.1 lbs and came off of wood in 5ft of water on a watermelon
Snootie Jig. A few cast later to the same piece of wood came a 2.6 lb LM. As I went further back into Fall Creek concentrating only on wood we caught a few dinks. The clouds stared rolling in and the wood bite seemed to have died out. I went back out the main channel and started flipping chunk rock. I flipped between 2 large chunk rock and out came a nice 4.1 lb LM. On this stretch of 100 yard long bluff / chunk bank we caught 6 more bass and 1 more keeper. All off the same watermelon Snootie jig. We ended up catching 11 bass with 4 of them keepers for around 11 lbs. Not bad for 3.5 hrs of fishing. I was surprised at how shallow the keeper fish were. Most of them were in around 5ft of water.
It was good just to get our and catch some fish.
